Lutheran Rose Parade Float Did anyone else cringe when they saw the Lutheran Parade Float at The Rose Parade? They had a character dressed as Jesus on the float waving to the crowd. The person they had dressed as Jesus looked like a character from a bad Saturday Night Live skit. I thought it lacked respect (and class). __________________"A democracy is a temporary form of government because as soon as the people discover they can vote themselves large amounts of money out of the public treasury, it collapses under the financial burden." ~Alexander Tytler |

While my reaction would probably have been similar to yours, I don't recall previous floats of theirs having that quality, so maybe we can forgive this year's version. It's not hard for me to do that considering that, one of these days, the Atheists or ACLU will probably find a way of prohibiting any floats that so much as hint at religious faith from being in the Rose Parade. |

2013 Tournament of Roses Parade. Lutheran Hour Ministries float This year's parade theme, ?Oh, the Places You'll Go!? invites us to imagine the places we can go. The 2013 LHM float ?Jesus ? The Way to Heaven!? reminds us that heaven is the ultimate place to go for all who call on the name of Jesus Christ to be saved. In John 14:3-4, Jesus reminds us, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." This place is heaven, and the only way to live with Jesus in heaven is to trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness your sins. The elements of the float depict God's promises in His Word: the path we travel to heaven (Matthew 7:14), God's Word guiding us on our journey (Psalm 119:105), and Jesus welcoming us with open arms at the gates of heaven showing us He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). It is our prayer that this year's float would be a reminder that everyone can spend an eternity in heaven through faith in Christ Jesus. |

The float looks good to me. I think it's a gift from God that Christians are even allowed to put a float in the parade. |
