Most Popular Living Room Speaker Set: Bowers and Wilkins (600 Series/800 Series Diamond)

Most Popular Living Room Speaker Set: Bowers and Wilkins (600 Series/800 Series Diamond) Pinning down some of the best living room speaker sets is a tall order, especially when there are so many subjective concerns involved. Still, we wanted to know what living room sets you would suggest to a friend if they asked you, and you gave us tons of great nominations. We rounded up the five most popular living room speaker sets out of your nominations, and put them to an all out vote to see which one came out on top. Now we're back to highlight the winner.

Most Popular Living Room Speaker Set: Bowers and Wilkins (600 Series/800 Series Diamond) Like we said in our Hive Five feature, there are tons of concerns?from budget to room size to room layout to type of media you plan to enjoy?that add up to what the "best" speakers are for you. Still, we wanted to know which sets you, the community, thought were the best options, from high-end expensive models to solid bang-for-the-buck setups, and you delivered.

Bowers and Wilkins (600 Series/800 Series Diamond) took the top spot in our poll with close to 35% of the overall vote. With many of you, it's clear the high-end quality of the 800 Series Diamond carried the vote over the top, even if they're out of the price range of most consumers. The 600s, on the other hand, are a bit more affordably priced.

Voting for second place was a bit more tight, with the difference between all of the other contenders being far fewer votes than the difference between second and first place. In second place with just under 20% of the vote was Klipsch (Quintet/Reference Series). Hot on its heels in third place with about 17.5% of the overall vote was Polk Audio (RTiA Series), and right behind it in fourth place with 17% of the vote (a difference of 12 votes!) was Paradigm (Studio/Monitor Series). Bringing up the rear was the budget-friendly Energy (Take Classic 5.1 System), with 11% of the overall vote.

The Hive Five is based on reader nominations. As with most Hive Five posts, if your favorite was left out, it's not because we hate it?it's because it didn't get the nominations required in the call for contenders post to make the top five. We understand it's a bit of a popularity contest, but if you have a favorite, we want to hear about it. Have a suggestion for the Hive Five? Send us an email at tips+hivefive@lifehacker.com!
